
My Story – How Language, Culture, Content, and Writing Came Together
Growing up in a Spanish-speaking household as the son of immigrants, I was an ESL student until the 5th grade. What many people don’t realize is that, in those situations, you also end up becoming your family’s translator, interpreter, and unofficial tech support.
Along the way, I learned how to bend the rules of language just enough to make American media, branding, and messaging click for my parents. That’s where my passion for copywriting and transcreation really began.
So, what is transcreation?
It’s a mix of translation and copywriting. As a transcreator, I adapt film scripts, marketing campaigns, and web content in a way that captures both the meaning and emotional intent of the original—while making it feel natural and culturally relevant for a new audience.
This kind of work allows me to bridge gaps, help clients tell their stories, and create messaging that truly resonates across languages and communities.
When I’m not writing or translating, I’m usually immersed in something creative—whether it’s poetry, visual art, trying out a new recipe, or digging into the history of hip hop.
